Exclusions & limitation

The following exclusions and limitations apply to the commercial van insurance policy:

  • Claims for your liability for loss of or damage to property occurring whilst you are carrying Hazardous Goods are limited to £1,000,000. For as full list please refer to the policy document.
  • Loss of or damage to mobile telephones or vehicle fitted telephones, their components, parts or ancillary equipment
  • Breakage of glass in sunroofs
  • Loss or Damage arising from theft or attempted theft if: Your Vehicle was not secured by means of the door and boot locks and the keys removed to a safe place OR any window or any form of roof opening or removable roof panel or hood of Your Vehicle was left open or unlocked
  • Any amount in excess of £250 in respect of sign writing, advertisements, logos and specialised artwork.
  • Cover is not provided if your vehicle is lost by deception
  • Goods or samples carried for any trade or business
  • We will not insure You for Claims whilst any Vehicle insured by this Policy is being:
    • Used for any purpose that the Certificate of Motor Insurance does not allow
    • Driven by someone not allowed to drive by the Certificate of Motor Insurance
    • Driven by anyone not holding a licence to drive the Vehicle or being disqualified from having such a licence
    • We will not provide cover if the vehicle is used airside (see General Exception 2)
    • Does not cover any accidental loss, damage, injury or legal liability caused directly or indirectly by war, nuclear risk, pressure waves and wear and tear, depreciation, mildew, insects, vermin, inherent vice, inherent nature, mechanical, electronic or electrical breakdown or derangement exclusion (See General Exception 3)

General Conditions

Your Duty of Care (see General Condition 9 in the Policy Document). You must take all reasonable steps to prevent/minimise loss, damage, injury or accident including the maintenance of security precautions and to minimise the cost of claims or legal proceedings. You must keep all Vehicles Insured by the Policy in efficient and roadworthy condition. We must be able to inspect the vehicles at any time. You must also take reasonable care when selecting employees.
