Licensees need to check insurance during World Cup

By Michelle Perrett

A leading insurance company warns owners to check they are insured for damages.

Licensees need to ensure additional alcohol supplies are insured during the World Cup, says leading insurance company Premierline Direct.

Following crowd trouble at live screenings in London's Canary Wharf and Manchester, the company says it has received calls from publicans and bar owners concerned over whether they are insured for damage.

Premerline's CEO Barrie Wells said: "Many bar owners expect a rise in emotion and passion during the World Cup, fuelled by greater alcohol consumption. What they fear most is damage to the additional stock brought in to meet the increased demand.

"Pub landlords, bar owners and restauranteurs should check their policies carefully. The concerns of our customers are real. If something like this happens and they're not fully covered there are likely to be repercussions for the future of the business".
