Pub chain JD Wetherspoon has seen a rise in sales after it cut the price of a pint of beer to 99p.
The firm said sales rose by 6.4 per cent in the last two weeks compared to a 2.6 per cent increase in the 12 weeks up to January 18th, pub insurance customers may be interested to learn.
JD Wetherspoon - which owns over 714 pubs across Britain - decided this month to reduce the price of a pint of beer to less than a pound, turning back the clock to 1989 when the tipple was last that cheap.
Nevertheless the pub operator has decided to cancel dividend payments to shareholders in the near future, deeming it prudent in the current economic climate.
This week, the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) launched an online forum offering support and advice for struggling pub insurance customers.
Camra's website saveourpubs.org.uk offers free access to downloadable resource material.
