Volkswagen has received recognition for its Caddy DSG (direct shit gearbox) at the What Van? Van of the Year Awards.
Following the technology award it received last year, the Caddy DSG was named the Editor's Choice at this year's awards which took place in London this week.
Volkswagen claimed that its DSG model allows for faster gear changes than traditional automatic gearboxes.
Neil McIntee, editor of What Van?, said that a growing number of manufacturers are offering alternatives to conventional gear boxes as "extra-cost" options.
"Nobody, however, has come up with a solution that is quite as novel - or quite as effective - as Volkswagen's DSG," he remarked.
The Caddy DSG is therefore a "worthy winner" of the Editor's Choice category, he added.
Last year, the Vauxhall Astravan won the award, with the overall title of Van of the Year being jointly awarded to the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the Volkswagen Crafter.
