Workers in the UK believe they are "infallible" when it comes to their wellbeing while at work, it has been claimed.
According to the British Osteopathic Association (BOA), the reason people suffer from back pain and other health problems in the workplace is because they do not take proper care of themselves.
Kelston Chorley, osteopath and head of professional development at the BOA, said that Brits tend to "soldier on" instead of admitting when they are in pain and taking some time off to recuperate.
Small business insurance customer could be interested to learn that Mr Chorley added this attitude is more prevalent among younger workers.
"If you're sitting at a desk all day, make sure you are sitting with your back close to the back of the chair, that you don't lean forwards too much to look at your screen and that you get periods of rest," he advised.
According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development annual Absence Management survey, published last July, sickness absence cost the UK economy £666 per employee in 2007, this was up from £659 the previous year.
