Small business insurance holders in the UK are currently taking on more staff than their counterparts in the US, it has been revealed.
According to employment website Alpha Executive Jobs, six applicants are now competing for every job vacancy advertised in America.
Managing director of the group Paula Reed commented that among business insurance customers this side of the Atlantic, redundancy figures have been falling every month since August 2009.
"Fortunately, many of these companies recognise that not only must they maintain or increase market share, they must also start exploring new markets if they're going to stay in business," she added.
Ms Reed went on to say that although high street jobs have been lost, many have been replaced by the growth of the online marketing sector.
Last week, business advice group Work Wise UK stated that unemployment will continue to rise during 2010 and 2011, but it is unlikely to be as high as many analysts expect.
