The UK hotel industry has reported good business for September, according to a new survey.
The study, put together by PKF Hotel Consultancy Services (PKF), revealed that for the most part the sector was in good health with London and Cardiff performing particularly well.
However, it was also revealed that Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester had all recorded poor results for revenue per available room [revpar] in comparison with 2006 with all three seeing a decline.
Robert Barnard, partner for hotel consultancy services at PKF, said: "London hotels had a strong September although again the growth in [revpar] was largely down to the room rate."
"The slight downturn in occupancy could have been due to some business travellers changing their plans in the aftermath of the summer's financial turmoil," he added.
It was found that Manchester had seen the steepest decrease in revpar with an 8.3 per cent drop on last year.
Last week UnionLeader.com reported that the next Manchester City Marathon would bring a boost in revenue to the area with over 1,500 runners expected to take part.
