Business insurance holders should make transparency and trust central to their dealings in 2010, according to consultancy Interchange Solutions.

The group stated that the need for business insurance policyholders to remain corruption-free will be more essential next year due to the prevalence of high bank bonuses, questionable parliamentarian expense accounts and excessive bank bonuses in 2009.

Chief executive of the organisation John Burbidge-King said that by taking a more proactive approach to ensuring transparency, companies can reduce the possibility of disruption, unbudgeted resources and expenses.

"One area that really does need critical attention in 2010 is how some British businesses conduct their affairs," he added.

Mr Burbidge-King went on to stress the damage that bribery can cause for business insurance holders.

The Bribery Bill, which is expected to come into force early in 2010, will aim to provide a more effective legal framework to combat the problem in both the public and private sectors.
