Retraining employees offers a range of benefits to both firms and work forces, it has been claimed.

According to Anjula Mutanda, psychology consultant and life coach, providing staff with new skills can help companies meet new demands.

"From an employers point of view if they are re-skilling their employees it's always a benefit to them at the end of the day because you've got a work force that are tooled up and ready to go," she said.

Letting employees learn new skills will also help their social lives as they will be able to network with people they might not have otherwise met, Ms Mutanda adds.

According to a recent study by the Learning and Skills Council, 80 per cent of people feel happier and more confident after learning a new skill.

It also found that 85 per cent of people feel more creative and prepared to try new things after going on a course.ADNFCR-873-ID-18790925-ADNFCR
