The advantages that trade unions bring to modern business insurance holders are being highlighted.
A joint statement from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the Confederation of British Industry outlines case studies where the organisations have helped business insurance customers.
The examples detail how business insurance holders have worked with trade union representatives to increase training provision, create greener offices and improve working practices.
Lord Mandelson, business secretary, commented: "I hope employers and trade unions alike will use these examples to develop their own approach and deliver help that could be invaluable to both businesses and workers."
TUC general secretary Brendan Barber added the case studies show that joint efforts from employers and trade unions can support British companies in the difficult economic climate.
Last week, the TUC launched a drive to improve UK workplaces, by calling for a maximum working temperature to be introduced before the full impact of climate change strikes.
