A pub licensee and a restaurant owner are attempting to sort out the damage caused by attacks on their premises, it has emerged.
The landlord of Rugby pub, the Merchants Inn, was disgruntled to discover that thieves had stolen £4,000-worth of beer barrels while he was asleep.
A similarly early morning attack took the owner of Italian restaurant Mario's in Barnoldswick by surprise, in which thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused by a knife owner who slashed three canopies.
Restaurant owner Mario di Santis was left in shock after the damage was discovered by a customer, reports Pendle Today, and although new canopies have been ordered, they may take some time to arrive.
Landlord of the Merchants Inn Scott Whyment told Rugby Today: "It's caused me no end of grief. It's very frustrating."
The barrels, which may have been used in the pub's recent Spring Beer Festival, may now be sold for profit and will cost thousands to replace.
