Business insurance holders need to ensure they give temporary employees the same rights as the rest of their workforce, it has been suggested.
A spokesman for the Public and Commercial Services Union explained that his organisation and others such as the Trades Union Congress (TUC) have been campaigning for an improvement in the rights of these workers for a number of years.
In comments which may concern those with business insurance, he said: "I think there is a danger that people's rights who are temporary workers or agency workers, often get forgotten. They should enjoy the same rights as anybody else in the workforce as a whole."
The representative added that there has been some success in extending the rights for agency staff, requiring business insurance holders to ensure their conditions and pay match those of permanent workers.
However, he claimed that more efforts need to be made on the issue and claimed unions will continue to do this until there is more improvement.
Recent YouGov research, commissioned by the TUC, found that 32 per cent of temporary workers said they would prefer a permanent position but cannot find one.
