Small business insurance holders are weathering the financial storm as they head into 2010, it has been revealed.

Research carried out by communications group O2 showed that 27 per cent of small business insurance policyholders believe their companies are healthier than at this time last year, while 59 per cent are anticipating a better business performance in 2010 than 2009.

Simon Devonshire, head of small business marketing at the company, commented that small business insurance holders have been quick to capitalise on the benefits of technology during 2009.

"The best small businesses are aware that cutting back on technology is simply not an option," he added.

"As the economy starts to show signs of recovery it is these businesses that are going to emerge ahead of the pack."

Last week, communication services provider Star stated that cloud computing offers small business insurance holders better IT security than they can generally afford themselves.
