Small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK are not using the internet as much as larger businesses, a new study has revealed.
The study by Dynamic Markets on behalf of internet service provider UK Online revealed that only one third of smaller firms have an internet subscription, reports vnunet.com.
This number is equivalent to just one to ten employees in every SME.
Since roughly half of the British population at large have an internet subscription, it is a startling statistic.
UK Online managing director Chris Stenning said: "I was surprised by the low level of internet use.
"I was expecting the figure to be nearer 70 - 80 per cent. It does show that the smallest businesses have not grasped the benefits of the internet."
