Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are failing to take advantage of government funding for training, research suggests.
Firms in the London and the south-east are missing out on the money, according to Onerec.com.
The website claims an independent study on behalf of Ixion shows 85 per cent of companies in the areas are failing to claim the funding.
Meanwhile, 96 per cent of businesses state they would like to find out more about the government initiatives, the source adds.
Graham Baker, chief executive officer of Ixion, tells the website the findings are "worrying".
He adds: "SMEs must realise they can benefit from the government funding available and have access to appropriate training to enhance their business."
Small businesses can take advantage of opportunities such as Train to Gain and Business Link, the source states.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is concerned over new training proposals from the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
The FSB is seeking for firms with less than 20 employees to be exempt from the plans, which would see staff able to request time off for training.
