Some small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) lack sufficient planning, research suggests.
A survey by YouGov, on behalf of SunGuard Availability Services, shows some businesses are displaying a lack of continuity planning, reports Vunet.com.
The results highlight just one-third of business have plans in place to ensure they can function during disruption, with only one-in-ten claiming they could continue as normal during computer hardware problems, the website adds.
Stephen Rankin, regional director for the Confederation of British Industry, tells the source the study proves some firms have "a long way to go in getting their plans up to scratch".
He adds: "Companies cannot afford to be out of action for any extended period of time because they risk losing customers and damaging relationships."
Meanwhile, earlier this month keepITsafe warned some small businesses are not backing up data.
Owners of SMEs have been advised to review their company's backup policy.
