Small firms looking to save money should consider using a storage-as-a-service system, a new study suggested.

It might interest business insurance customers to know that research by IDC indicates demand for such products is on the up, especially along firms facing financial pressures.

According to IDC program manager Brad Nisbet, companies are looking to storage-as-a-service as a cheaper alternative to buying a server because it allows data to be shared and backed up in the long term.

He said: "Consumers and business organisations continue to generate vast amounts of data and seek optimum methods to store and protect them."

The growth of storage-as-a-service will outpace traditional options in the immediate future, Mr Nisbet predicted

Meanwhile, research by Damovo has found that small firms are increasingly looking to cut costs by embracing IT, with 62 per cent of respondents stating that this is an aim.

Businesses are also looking to make their processes more efficient through technology, the research revealed.ADNFCR-873-ID-18882237-ADNFCR
