Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) could benefit from e-learning packages currently on the market, according to one expert.
A spokesman for the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas) said yesterday that one of the best aspects of online learning tools was that they are available to be done when it suits the individual.
Steve Williams, head of equality at Acas said that one such package, produced by the group, aims to increase awareness of changes in age discrimination law and that this could benefit SMEs.
"People can have access to the basics right through to the detailed aspects. The individual - particularly in a small business - can do it when they choose," he said.
"E-learning packages are a great benefit to small businesses
the idea of making awareness training about the regulations more accessible can only be a good thing."
Last month an Acas survey of 750 businesses found that currently 43 per cent of SMEs were aware of the new regulations and only 17 per cent said they had changed existing recruitment practises.
