The vast majority of SMEs in the UK would consider switching to a single mobile phone operator to meet their communications requirements, it has been claimed.
A study conducted by University College Dublin Michael Smurfit School of Business on behalf of Accuris Networks, found that nine in ten SMEs in the UK and Ireland would make the move.
John Barron, vice-president of Accuris Networks, described the research as "timely" given that many mobile operators are choosing to offer bundled broadband to business customers.
He explained that the research was an attempt to discover whether SMEs are willing to "embrace" the idea of having a mobile phone operator as the "sole supplier of all their communication requirements".
According to the firm, the results show that most SMEs are aware of the possible benefits offered by mobile technology, with many likely to consider using new technology to cut costs.
In related news, Kip Meek, chairman of the Broadband Stakeholder Group, recently welcomed the government's announcement that a new independent review of high-speed broadband will be undertaken.
