Small businesses are being offered the chance to pitch eco-friendly ideas, it has been claimed.
The new Shell Springboard initiative is inviting small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to reveal plans on how climate change can be beaten, with the best ideas receiving up to £40,000 funding, reports lowcarboneconomy.com.
Proposals should be commercially realistic as well as environmentally friendly, with November 7th the closing date, the source adds.
James Smith, UK chairman for Shell, told the website: "Grassroots innovation from small businesses could be a crucial factor in driving the development of this mix."
Mr Smith added he believes SMEs are "well placed to be climate change entrepreneurs".
The news comes shortly after it was reported last month small businesses have more eco aware workers than larger firms, reports businessstrata.com.
Research by E.ON found employees for SMEs are more likely to turn off electrical equipment than those at larger businesses, the source adds.
