The demise of energywatch is nothing but bad news for small firms, according to one industry body.
In news which might be of interest to business insurance customers, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) believes the closure of the energy watchdog will leave companies in the dark.
John Holbrow, FSB environment and energy policy unit chairman, said: "Small businesses are already under particular strain in a volatile energy market and this is coupled with unclear pricing policies and poor standards of service from some gas and electricity suppliers."
Small firms should be given better representation in the new system, he added.
However, the fact that utilities firms will come under greater scrutiny from Ofgem than before is good news, Mr Holbrow stated.
In other news which might appeal to business insurance customers, the British Chambers of Commerce called on the government to scrap the Workplace Parking Levy, dubbing it a stealth tax.
