Two-thirds of small business insurance holders are optimistic they will survive the economic downturn, a survey has shown.

O2's Small Business Confidence Index revealed that 66 per cent of company owners say they are determined to survive the recession.

In addition, 21 per cent of small business insurance holders anticipate their organisation growing in the next 12 months, with four per cent viewing the downturn as an exciting challenge.

Simon Devonshire, head of small business marketing at O2, commented: "At the end of the first business quarter of 2009, it is evident that there is very much a 'thrive and survive' mentality amongst small business owners."

However, business insurance customers also revealed that cashflow remains their most pressing concern in the downturn, followed by low levels of support from the banking sector.

Recent research by independent financier Bibby Financial Services found 36 per cent of company owners claim the recession is having no impact on their personal lives.ADNFCR-873-ID-19134398-ADNFCR
