Small business insurance customers are being urged to save on energy bills by switching off non-essential equipment over the festive period.
Energy firm npower has launched the BigSwitch Off campaign, advising small business insurance customers to turn off photcopiers, computers and lighting and to reduce heating when buildings are empty.
Research suggests British business insurance customers may be waste up to £7 million per day over Christmas, and could save up to £28 million on energy bills, according to the energy company.
"Improving energy efficiency by switching off equipment is a quick and easy way to cut energy bills at a time when many businesses are looking to save whatever they can," said Steve Fitzsimons, business relationship manager at the company.
Last week, the Sustainable Development Commission said new data shows the government is on track to meet most of its own sustainability targets, but that carbon emissions are still not reducing enough.
