More than half of business owners in the UK believe that you have to be willing to take big risks in order to succeed, new research has found.
The study, conducted by Abbey Business Banking found that 50 per cent of entrepreneurs questioned described themselves as a risk-taker, while a further two per cent admitted to being "real business daredevils".
It also found that three quarters of businesspeople who had decided to branch out on their own thought the decision was a good one.
Paula Ickinger, head of Abbey Business Banking, said: "Taking the decision to go it alone and realise your business ambitions is a big one, and there will always be some risks involved ... If you put the hours in, it seems that for the majority of entrepreneurs [are] goals have been realised."
Yesterday, research commissioned by the Forum of Private Business found that SMEs are increasingly worried about the state of the economy and expect the coming year to be tough.
