Six members of staff were arrested on suspicion of working illegally during a raid at an Indian restaurant in Whitby, it has been reported.
The raid was part of an ongoing investigation by the Home Office to clamp down on people giving work to illegal immigrants, reports the Yorkshire Post.
The news serves as a warning to all small and medium-sized businesses as they can be arrested for knowingly employing illegal workers.
The news follows a similar raid across car washes in South Yorkshire, whereby six men and their employer were arrested.
Police officers visited every car wash in the county at the end of last year to advise employers on the law and are now in the process of re-visiting those who may not be complying, reports the Star News.
Chris Hudson, regional director of Border and Immigration Agency, said: "We are working hard to combat illegal working across the region."
