Restaurant insurance customers wanting to revamp their eatery in the recession should make the menu cheaper as the high-end of the market is being hit, according to one restaurateur.
Tim Boner, manager of Coco's in Belfast, told the BBC the key to success in the current market is "all about pricing the menu right".
The restaurant owner took on celebrity chef Paul Rankin's Roscoff Brasserie last year but decided it was too high-end and so overhauled the eatery.
Mr Boner told restaurant insurance customers: "Restaurants that offer good value, good service and good products at a good price will flourish."
His views are backed up by Dean Coppard, who told the BBC that good research prior to opening is the key to success, adding: "You have to know who you're marketing to and not rip them off."
He adds that potential restaurant insurance customers should not believe what they see on TV, adding that it takes dedication and long-working weeks to make a success of a business.
Earlier this year it was revealed that takeaway sales are rising as the recession continues, showing that people may be looking for lower-cost eating options.
