An Indian restaurant in Reading has been closed down after council officers visited it on a routine inspection, it has been reported.
The Buffet Express in Wokingham Road was awarded zero stars for food safety, reports the Reading Evening Post.
Officers said that the restaurant displayed a "poor standard of cleaning" and contravened several aspects of the Food Standards Agency's (FSA) Food Law Code of Practice.
Following the inspection on Monday, the restaurant was handed an emergency prohibition notice and was shut down immediately.
Worryingly, the Buffet Express is the 48th food business in Reading to be given a high-risk zero star rating in the past two years.
With many councils supporting the Scores on the Doors system, the ratings of environmental health officers are now readily available to the public, which could prove devastating for business.
The Reading Evening Post says that next week it will name all 48 restaurants to have received the rating.
