Business insurance holders should ensure that they have a continuity plan in place to help them work through an emergency, it has been suggested.

Mike Ballantine, business development manager at enterprise communication company Aastra, recommended that business insurance customers should consider gaining the capacity to remote work.

He suggested that remote working can be useful in light of the current worries of a swine flu pandemic.

Mr Ballantine explained: "If you don't want lots of people congregating in the same place, breathing the same atmosphere et cetera, then home working is a real opportunity."

The expert also claimed that business insurance holders can use remote working in the normal course of their operations to reduce the need to travel and cut down on their spending.

Recently, Aastra revealed that a range of companies, including Nokia, Samsung and Adidas, have temporarily banned non-essential international business travel because of swine flu.

Mr Ballantine pointed out that this does not need to mean companies' operations are affected, as they can use telephone and video conferencing.ADNFCR-873-ID-19161298-ADNFCR
