With the smoking ban due to come into force in English pubs in just a fortnight, landlords all over the country are furiously making plans in preparation.
Smoking shelters are a provision that many pubs have opted for, in a bid to prevent regular customers from being put off coming to the pub and losing their valuable revenue.
One such pub licensee was Steve Hogan of the Strawberry Hotel in Abbey Road, Barrow.
Speaking of his newly erected smoking shelter Mr Hogan told the North-west Evening Mail: "I'm happy we have done it but it wasn't cheap. It cost a few thousand pounds."
However, many landlords are not prepared to spend such substantial sums.
The York Press reported that more than half of landlords and landladies across the region do not intend to provide any shelters or outdoor heaters.
