A pub in Reading has come up with a plan to help its regulars kick the habit in time for the smoking ban, it has been reported.
Instead of resisting the new legislation, the Retreat in St John's Street, Reading, is running a seven-week course to help customers that are long-term smokers stub out their cigarettes for good.
Bernie Whiten and his partner Jane Marsden, who run the pub and are both smokers, will be joining the customers, reports icBerkshire.
Ms Marsden said: "We are one of the worst-placed pubs in the Reading area to make provision for smokers, so it makes sense that we help our customers quit smoking."
And she added that it would be easier for them to quit as a group.
"I'm sure we'd all rather do difficult things in familiar surroundings," she said.
