Business insurance holders can make cost savings by making careful use of their space, it has been suggested.
Howard Cooke, a director in the corporate consulting team at GVA Grimley, recommended that business insurance customers should take steps to spend as little as possible and ask questions on how they use their property.
Mr Cooke commented: "So focus on big properties because that's where the big savings are going to be. What's the cost of the use of that space?"
He advised business insurance holders to examine the payments they make on their property and chase up any repayments or rebates which they are owed.
The expert also suggested that companies look at how they can maximise the use of their buildings, through steps such as increasing the number of people who work from them.
A recent survey by GVA Grimley and the Confederation of British Industry discovered that nine per cent of companies increased the amount of property space that they occupied in the six months before May, while 26 per cent reduced it.
