Small business insurance holders in the Peak District are to benefit from a £1 million package of support.
The East Midlands Development Agency, the Peak District National Park Authority and the Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership have launched a £1.25 million scheme to boost rural business insurance customers and communities.
Entrepreneurs will be offered guidance on how to start a new venture in the region under the Live & Work Rural programme, which will also show existing small rural businesses insurance holders how to access grants from local and regional funding bodies.
In addition, specialised advice will be provided by Business Link on how to use the Peak District's unique conditions to encourage growth, while enterprises will be taught how to boost their green credentials and reduce their carbon footprint.
Chair of the Peak District National Park Authority Narendra Bajaria commented: "While many rural businesses are by their very nature small in size when put together they make a huge contribution to the East Midlands economy and provide more than 14,000 jobs."
A new £10 million fund to support growing business was recently launched by the South West Regional Development Agency, with half of the money intended for use by Cornish and the Isles of Scilly-based enterprises.
