News that the Olympic development is progressing well is good for business insurance holders, according to an expert.

Yesterday (November 23rd), the Olympic Delivery Authority confirmed that the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games project continues within budget and on time.

Sam Turvey, communications manager at the British Chambers of Commerce, said that the news will be welcomed by business insurance holders, as it presents a variety of ways for them to capitalise on the project.

"For businesses there are huge procurement opportunities, which really do count for our members. Certain businesses in particular areas of the country are going to do very well from the Olympics," he explained.

Mr Turvey also told business insurance holders that they could find Olympic contracts for goods and services in areas such as security, transport, food and insurance.

At the start of November, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills revealed that there are still around £1.7 billion worth of Olympic and Paralympic contracts available.
