A trade newspaper has launched a campaign to tackle the increasing number of licensees being targeted by cold-calling energy salesmen.The Morning Advertiser writes that 88 per cent of respondents to a recent online poll say that they have received cold calls on one or more occasions by people attempting to sell them energy contracts.The newspaper claims that some of these contracts are unfair and has responded by announcing details of a campaign called Action on Energy Rogues.Backed by EnergyWatch and the Federation of Small Businesses, the campaign aims to take responsibility for agents selling on their behalf, increase awareness among licencees of the problem and seek further protection for small businesses.It urges pub owners and small and medium-sized businesses which have been affected by the problem to contact them with their experiences and states that readers can expect to see features and articles on the problem.This is York revealed last week that a scheme was being introduced to tackle the problem of door-to-door cold-calling in the area.
