This week saw the debut of Honda's latest diesel car which the company claims is the future of advanced oil burning engines.
According to Auto Express, the Japanese car manufacturer's latest diesel engine is being touted as one of the most advanced ever built and has made a big impact at this year's Tokyo Motor Show.
It is expected that the new diesel engine vehicles, which use Honda's i-DTEC technology, could appear on forecourts over the next three years.
The i-DTEC motor, which is set to replace the current 2.2-litre i-CTDi diesel engine, is thought to come equipped with a catalytic converter that removes up to 99 per cent of harmful emissions.
The manufacturer has said that the new Accord will be the first to use the engine and will represent a cleaner, more efficient car for the company's second generation of diesel technology.
Earlier this year Honda launched a coupe version of the Accord that senior vice president in the US John Mendel said would "set a new benchmark for safety, efficiency, performance, refinement and style."
