It will become cheaper and easier for pub insurance holders to make changes to their licences after recent government action.
The Department for Culture, Media And Sport revealed that the cost of making minor variations to licences, such as putting on some live events and making amends to layouts, will fall from £225 to £89, which will benefit those with pub insurance.
Under the new system, pub insurance holders will only have to complete a short application forms and wait for a response within 15 days, as opposed to the current 28 days.
In addition, applicants will no longer be required to advertise their proposed changes in the local newspaper.
Gerry Sutcliffe, licensing minister, commented: "We realise that licensees are going through difficult times - that is why it is so important that we remove any unnecessary burdens."
This month, James Wilmore, deputy news editor at The Publican, suggested that a "perfect storm" of problems is forcing pub insurance holders out of business.
