IT firms targeting small business

IT companies are looking towards the small business market, a new report suggests.

According to the Financial Times, IT firms are developing their marketing strategies to attempt to corner market that small businesses represent.

It is thought that products and services will soon be on their way that specifically targets the needs and budgets of companies with fewer than 100 employees.

According to the newspaper, Dell, IBM and Cisco Systems have launched hardware intended for small business recently and both Microsoft and SAP have increased their efforts to secure small business accounts.

Mark Shearer, general manager of IBM's small business server line, told the Financial Times: "Small businesses essentially need the same kinds of infrastructure and capabilities that larger businesses need.

He added: "They're competing in a global economy and their customer needs are intense."

The Northern Echo recently reported that many experts believe that most small companies will soon expect IT services to be available to provide service whenever they need them.
