Outsourcing could lead to the UK experiencing a brain drain in IT talent that could impact business insurance holders.
Adam Stokes, operations manager at The IT Job Board, claims that the number of businesses offshoring these functions is leading to professionals in the sector moving overseas.
He warns that this, combined with changes in the contract rate, are leading more IT staff to head abroad, leaving business insurance holders in the UK without an adequate recruitment pool.
"IT is an easily transferable skill, and for many the thrill of living and working in another country would be very attractive," he asserts.
Mr Stokes adds that the majority of programming is done in English, increasing the employability of staff from this country and the risk that business insurance holders will be unable to find the right employee.
In a poll of industry figures, The IT Job Board found three quarters believed that the UK would experience a brain drain in this area, with four fifths of the sector willing to relocate overseas for a job.
