Hotel insurance holders must make the most of the government help which is available for them, a minister asserts.

Barbara Follett, minister for culture, creative industries and tourism, claims that the sector is facing a number of very serious challenges due to the downturn.

She states that nearly half of all these companies are "very small", with many facing cash-flow problems which could have a severe effect on their wellbeing.

The minister urges these to take advantage of the Real Help Now scheme and to look into the loans which are available for organisations as part of the Business Link services.

In addition, she highlights skills as a problem which could be overlooked by hotel insurance owners due to the downturn.

Ms Follett states: "The government is very aware of [the need] to correct this [training] situation and have put £500 million into this."

Her comments were made at the Best of Britain and Ireland, Travel Trade Forum, which was held earlier this month at the London ExCel and showcased the cream of domestic tourism.ADNFCR-873-ID-19101398-ADNFCR
