Hotel insurance holders will experience an improvement in performance over the summer, it has been predicted.
Miles Quest, spokesperson for the British Hospitality Association, noted that there are currently fewer insolvencies among hotel insurance holders at the moment and attributed this to the start of the season.
"The first few months of the year are always quiet. During the peak season I would have expected any insolvency figures to go down slightly. So that wouldn't surprise me hugely," he continued.
Mr Quest added that June, July and August are traditionally the industry's busiest months and said any hotel insurance holders who cannot do well in this time are unlikely to succeed at all.
In addition, the representative claimed that budget hotels are some of the strongest performers in the hospitality sector at the moment, although they are not completely immune from the impact of the economic downturn.
Earlier this month, Robert Bernard, partner at PKF, said hotel insurance holders in London are performing well, given the ongoing recession.
