Hotel insurance owners in the UK could receive a long-term boost as an unexpected benefit of the recession, a commentator asserts.
Peter Hampton, director of the British Resorts and Destinations Association, claims that the economic downturn will lead to a rise in the number of people visiting destinations within Britain.
He says that many of these travellers will discover that they like the offerings hotel insurance customers and other members of the UK tourism industry have made and visit again.
"I am very optimistic about the domestic holiday market; this year, there has been an awful lot more people experiencing it," he explains.
Mr Hampton says that those staying with hotel insurance customers around the UK will be able to experience something unique to the area they are in.
Recent figures published by VisitEngland showed that holiday trips taken in Britain by residents were up 14 per cent year-on-year in the first six months of this year.
