The recent budget has had a huge impact on small businesses and this may lead to the government becoming even less popular, one expert has warned.
Duane Jackson, managing director of KashFlow, explained that changes in tax laws will do little to increase the appeal of the Labour Party to those in charge of SMEs.
He said: "SMEs with a turnover of less than £300,000 now face a huge tax bill for at least the next two years. With banks clinging onto their purse-strings so tightly in terms of business loans, the chips are definitely stacked against the growth of smaller businesses."
Mr Jackson added that the firm conducted a poll which found that nearly half of the accountants it asked believed the Conservative Party would do the best job of leading the country.
Just 29 per cent of respondents thought that Labour is the best party to take charge of national affairs.
The government's handling of small businesses has come in for criticism from several industry bodies of late, with many complaining that ministers do not listen to the needs of SMEs.
