The Forum of Private Business (FPB) has formed a partnership aimed at offering SMEs affordable telecommunications solutions.
Announcing the joint venture, the FPB said it had teamed up with Chess in order to help provide SMEs with access to technology which can be vital to make them competitive.
The FPB said: "The partnership means that the FPB has been able to negotiate exclusive savings for members on Chess' range of telecommunications products and services, including fixed lines, calls, mobile, non-geographic numbers, broadband and data solutions."
Information technology can be vital for SMEs to compete with larger firms, but recent research indicates that many smaller firms find the cost of new technology prohibitive.
However, a study by Access Markets International found that while the step cost of investing in telecommunications puts off many SMES, small firms in the UK spent more than £20 billion on IT and telecoms last year.
Last month the Chartered Institute of Marketing said that internet marketing will surpass traditional forms of advertising in the coming years.
