Families whose homes were flooded by a water main last year have not yet been able to move out of their temporary accommodation.

The pipes, owned by Thames Water flooded 200 Surrey homes when they burst in November and some houses were reported to be three feet deep in water.

When the accident happened, a Thames Water spokesperson said to the BBC: "Unfortunately, a number of properties had been flooded before we were able to control the flow of water."

Since that time, BBC news has reported that 12 of the Thames Ditton families have not been able to move back into their family homes.

Thames Ditton Residents Association was told by Thames Water that some residents would not be able to move back into their waterlogged homes until between March and June of this year.

Judy Doyle, one of the re-homed residents said to the BBC that the builders were only starting work on her house today.

"They are coming to take all the plaster off the walls and take up the floorboards so they can dry out underneath," she said.

More than 10.5 million litres of water were lost during the flood and many people lost personal belongings to the deluge.
