Business insurance customers should not forget to motivate their staff as unemployment levels rise and remaining workers are seen as 'the lucky ones'.
Righttrack Consultancy says the motivation and performance management of workers left in a company which has laid of staff may be forgotten.
The learning and development specialist says business insurance customers should make these things a priority as they "have never been more important".
Kasmin Cooney, managing director of Righttrack Consultancy, says: "It is all too common for the employees who are left behind, after the rounds of redundancies have been completed, to have little or no idea of what their future is within their organisation."
She adds that even though the economy has slowed, employees still have the same expectations and aspirations for the company.
In addition, the expert states it is extremely important for business insurance customers to retain the top talent in difficult times.
The Irish Times recently reported that tough economic conditions meant firms should give staff rewarding work to improve their motivation.
