Business insurance customers are becoming more eco-friendly as the credit crunch hits, according to an expert.
Andrew Moore, managing director of British Eco Energy, says the recession is causing business insurance customers to increase their environmental efforts and put forward a green image.
"They're having to reduce their energy bills, and they seem to be addressing their carbon footprint issues," asserts Mr Moore.
An element of competitiveness is involved in the uptake of eco-friendly measures, as business insurance customers see their rivals making the effort to go green and feel they should do the same.
Renewable energy sources accounted for five per cent of electricity generated in the UK in 2007, up from 4.5 per cent in 2006, according to the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
Industrial electricity prices declined by one per cent last year, but were nearly a third higher in 1997, the government department said.
