McDonald's is reportedly set to increase its number of restaurants in the UK, despite seeing sales fall in recent years.
Brand Republic claims that the move suggests that the firm has "renewed confidence" in the UK market, although its expansion plans are expected to be more "cautious" than in previous years.
According to the news provider, McDonald's closed 25 of its high street restaurants last year but has embarked upon a programme of redesigning its branches.
The fast food company opened its first restaurant in the UK in 1974 and now boasts more than 1,000 outlets across the country.
In its efforts to deliver "customer convenience", the firm claims to have opened restaurants in a diverse range of locations, including cross-channel ferries, bowling allies and on the site of London's former county hall.
In October, McDonalds announced that it would be offering high-speed wireless internet access in the majority of its restaurants throughout the UK.
