Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) that provide a good working environment can help employees get over their post-holiday malaise, according to one expert.
Behavioural and personality psychologist Donna Dawson said this week that the first two weeks following a holiday can be a tough time for those returning to work and that this could have an effect on SMEs.
"Holiday blues probably could have an affect on small business and it's more noticeable too," she said.
She added that in larger companies it may be easier to come back to work and ease back into work more slowly.
"I think any boss needs to understand how people feel and give them a day or two to adjust," she concluded.
Recent figures from Birmingham International Airport revealed that over two-thirds of holidaymakers in the UK said they experienced depression upon returning home.
