The majority of drivers do not concentrate enough while behind the wheel, which may concern commercial vehicle insurance holders.
A poll commissioned by Continental Tyres discovered that the average UK motorist is only focused for two-thirds of the time they are driving, while 59 per cent of commercial vehicle insurance customers cannot remember parts of their journey.
In addition, the survey found that tuning the radio or changing a CD, talking to passengers, looking at passing scenery, eating and listening to loud music are the leading driving distractions reported by commercial vehicle insurance holders.
Guy Frobisher, director of safety at Continental Tyres, commented: "These statistics are really worrying. When driving, so much can happen in just a few seconds that you need to be able to react quickly so you can brake safely."
Recently, Steve Foulsham, technical services manager at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, stressed to commercial vehicle insurance holders that cars must be kept in a good state of repair to avoid damaging their cover.
