The Castle Fine Arts Foundry has been dubbed British Small Business Champion (BSBC) 2008.
It might interest business insurance customers to know that the firm netted the title after beating six finalists.
Carol Undy, who headed the panel of judges for BSBC 2008, said: "Castle Fine Arts is a shining example of a successful, small business. This came across very strongly at each stage of the judging process."
The awards, organised by the Federation of Small Business (FSB), also saw Photon Engineering dubbed Most Promising New Business.
Based in Reading, the firm installs renewable energy systems and has clients including construction firms Kier and Fitzpatrick, as well as schools, colleges and NHS trusts.
Last week, the FSB called on the government to officially recognise training schemes run by small firms.
Such initiatives should also be accredited, the body claimed.
According to the FSB, small businesses provide workers with many vital skills.
